HKETO presents Best Asia Pacific Business Award at 2025 ACCE Awards Gala

The Acting Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Mr Gavin Yeung, attended the 2025 Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE) Awards Gala held in Toronto on April 12 and presented the Best Asia Pacific Business Award.

Speaking at the event, Mr Yeung remarked that Hong Kong demonstrated resilience amid global uncertainties. “We are ranked as the world’s freest economy, third-largest financial centre, and the fifth most competitive city. We now have nearly 10 000 companies from the Mainland and overseas, as well as 4 700 start-ups. Both numbers are the highest that we have ever seen, and are signs of confidence in Hong Kong’s status as a prime business location,” he said.

Mr Yeung further highlighted Hong Kong’s unique advantages under the “one country, two systems” framework, and its strategic role in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. These edges, he noted, provide Canadian businesses with an unparalleled platform to diversify and expand into the Mainland market. He invited Canadian companies to leverage the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) for easier access to the Mainland.

He also introduced the Dedicated Team for Attracting Businesses and Talents at HKETO, which supports Canadian enterprises seeking opportunities in Hong Kong. He encouraged Canadian entrepreneurs to explore the vast opportunities Hong Kong offers and use the city as a launchpad into the rapidly growing market in the East.

Mr Yeung presented the Best Asia-Pacific Business Award at the Gala. He pointed out that HKETO was pleased to continue its partnership with ACCE to foster stronger economic and trade relations between Hong Kong and Canada, particularly with the vibrant Chinese-Canadian business community.

HKETO has been sponsoring the Best Asia Pacific Business Award since its inception in 2010. The award recognises those entrepreneurs who have made a business success by using Hong Kong as a platform for their business expansion to the Asia Pacific region.

The 2025 ACCE's Best Asia Pacific Business Award was given to Mr Wilson Kam, the Founder of MTI, a company in Vancouver engaging in food and grocery distribution business in North America. Using Hong Kong as a platform, the company is planning to further expand its business in other Asia Pacific regions.
